My auntie says that one of the Big Tests for any love relationship is to go camping together. You get the opportunity to see how people perform in 'make do' situations, how they adapt to being out of their comfort zone and how they react to creepy-crawlies.
Billy and I did splendidly. Apart from a quabble when we first got into the car, things were glorious.
We got to our destination, Tettegouche State Park, set up my tent like we'd been doing in for a hundred years, and got our camp ready. We hiked to the falls, made dinner, drank a beer and had dinner.
The second night, it thunderstormed. Really hard. And the thundercracks were right above our tent. It scared the crap out of me (and I love storms), but my darling husband kept me feeling safe. He even cooked me breakfast each morning.
Wonderful.
Wonderful.
Wonderful.
We passed the test.
Lovely pictures... except that you can really tell you "slept" in a tent. Camping isn't for sissies, that's for sure!
OUR big "camping test" came in the form of a bike camping trip (yes, the pedal kind) to Mankato and back. Every day we'd pedal, and every night I'd apologize for the nasty names I was calling him under my breath. But we survived it -- that was 25 years ago! Either it's good or it isn't, and camping is one of the fastest ways to find that out!
Glad you had fun -- and came back together!! :-)

Happy to see that you made it through. Even happier to see the photos of your wedding. What splendid and quaint settings. Even happier to see Robbye's continued good taste in music, ie the Beautiful Girls and more Mason. I'm telling you: try Joe Purdy, Matt Costa, and Donavon Frankenreiter!!
Cheers,
Jonathan
