I love sleep.
Perhaps to an abnormal level.
But I could never understand, with all our knowledge, why folks don't pay attention to this basic need. If you don't get proper sleep, everything suffers. Performance, alertness, people get cranky and all sorts of other things. And prolonged sleep-deprivation makes people crazy. I won't wax on, because I know you know - and I'm not here to lecture.
When I hear the phrase, "I'll sleep when I'm dead", it makes me cringe. Like watching Animal Precinct - it turns my stomach and I can't wrap my head around the idea of inflicting such torture on a living thing. Why would you do that to yourself?
While I've generally been a stellar sleepyhead, I've also had some terrible bouts of insomnia. Sometimes a day or two. When it got worse, a week or two. When it got REALLY bad, it was a problem that had me suffering over two years. Everyone has a remedy and/or a tip. Which I always appreciate - though have limited success. But I've tried them all.
"Sleep of The Just" was a phrase I heard from someone I shared a hotel room with at an out-of-town wedding. The phrase stuck. Basically, when your mind is at peace, you can sleep.
True that.
On that note, it's my bedtime. I look forward to laying in bed the way some people anticipate the comfort of a lover.
It's good to feel happy and safe.
